Details
The Story of the Naval War of 1812By C. S. ForesterNo one has been so well equipped as C. S. Forester to dramatize the sea battles of the War of 1812, to characterize the heroes more skillfully, or to comprehend more shrewdly the world unrest that made it possible for an infant republic to embarrass a great nation rich in one hundred years of sea triumphs. 1956; Chapman Billies; 5.50"x 8.50"; 284 pages Paperback; ISBN: 0-939218-06-2

American Frugal Housewife 12th Edition 1833, The.
Dedicated to Those who are not Ashamed of EconomyBy Mrs. Lydia Maria ChildThe true economy of housekeeping is simply the art of gathering up of all the fragments, so that nothing is lost. I mean fragments of time, as well as materials. Nothing should be thrown away so long as it is possible to make use of it, however trifling that use may be; and whatever be the size of the family, every member should be employed either in earning or saving money. So begins The American Frugal Housewife. First published in 1828, it went through many editions and proved to be an extremely popular nineteenth century manual for homemakers. Interesting recipes and remedies, advice on parenting and the myriad responsibilities of housekeeping are all put forth in straightforward, no-nonsense,Yankee prose. Mrs. Lydia Maria Child was an early feminist and abolitionist who supported her family through her various literary activities as a writer of many books, a pamphleteer, and a magazine editor. 1828; Chapman Billies; 4"x 7.25"; 130 pages Hardback; ISBN: 0-939218-22-4
Anacostia.
Located in Washington, D. C., the Anacostia River is a poster child for America's tragically neglected, abused urban waterways. There are compelling ethical grounds for remedying this river's environmental problems, for the Anacostia in our time demonstrates that environmental burdens like pollution and resource depletion are not shared equally. Wennersten's book offers a corrective to the uncritical assumptions of growth for its own sake, and development at the cost of our waters, our natural resources, and the health of our citizenry.2008; Chesapeake Book Company; 6"x9"; 304 pages Paperback; ISBN: 0-963515-96-9
Art of The Stonemason.
By Ian Cramb Drawing on five generations of family tradition as stonemasons in his native Scotland, Ian Cramb created this masterful work to pass on his knowledge and experience to craftsmen who wish to learn the ancient, but still necessary, principles of the stonemason's art. Since original publication by Betterway Books in 1992, this book has established itself as an essential learning tool for masons doing new construction and also those engaged in restoration of historic stone structures.Beginning with a detailed discussion of building with "random rubble", which is the name for the early Celtic art of building with irregular stones bedded on mortar, the author proceeds to more complex projects such as fireplaces, stairs, arches, bridges and more. There is extensive treatment of various restoration techniques involved with historic structures both in the US and Britain, some as old as 1000 years. In additon the author covers various types of stone, stone-cutting, etc. as well as using tradional mortar mixes, which have demonstrated their utility in stone walls and buildings which have lasted for many centuries. The Art of the Stonemason is profusely illustrated with the author's meticulous line drawings and photographs.Ian Cramb began his apprenticeship at the age of 14 in Dunblane, Scotland. Surrounded by large estates, farm buildings, a ruined 13th century bishop's palace, two large fifteenth century castles, a Gothic cathedral, and numerous other stone buildings, Dunblane was an apprentice stonemason's paradise. In 1957 Mr. Cramb took over as master stonemason on the restoration of the monastic buildings around the abbey on Iona. He rebuilt the cloisters, restored St. Michael's Chapel, and also restored St. Oran's Chapel in the Cemetary of Kings, built in 1075. In 1959 Mr. Cramb moved to the US where he set stone and marble on the Capitol building, and then he acted as stone and marble mason for the Raeburn Building and World Bank Building in Washington, DC. He now lives in Bangor, Pennsylvania. 1992; Hood, Alan C. & Company, Inc.; 8.5"x 11"; 174 pages Paperback; ISBN: 0-911469-27-3
