This is an excellent resource for any school library required to do their own cataloging.
— American Reference Books Annual
Kelsey provides an authoritative text on cataloging for school librarians who may not need advanced knowledge for creating original cataloging records. In an easy to read, almost conversational style, the book provides brief historical and theoretical context and a lot of practical information. The text focuses on RDA, Sears, Abridged Dewey, and MARC but also provides comparisons to AACR2, the description standard RDA has replaced. The summarization sections and quizzes included at the end of each chapter reinforce materials covered and provide readers with key takeaways.
